Meet the Teacher - Mrs. Foley
Hi All! My name is Jennifer Foley. I am a proud step mom to two fabulous girls. Sarah is 14 and Christen is 12. Sarah loves animals, and Christen loves all sorts of girlie things that sparkle and shine. I prefer preschoolers to preteens :-) My husband is an aircraft mechanic, a great cook and a fantastic father! Our family also includes a very loved and spoiled beagle mix named "Archie". Our family goes on an annual camping trip on the coast of Maine each year. This is a great time for the girls to spend time with their cousins. It just so happen that I did the very same thing with my cousins when I was a little girl. I happily joined the Milford School District as the preschool special educator in 2013. I have been teaching young children for 20 years (really how can that be?) in a variety of educational settings, including private and public schools in preschool through fifth grade. I started my college education in 1994. It was in 2010 that I completed my undergraduate studies at Rivier College in Human Development/ Early Childhood/Special Education. Only to return to school to complete my Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in Reading: with an Emphasis on Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University in 2014.
Fun Fact: I can say and sing the alphabet backwards!
THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS...
I never thought I would say this but a good solid Workout! I started attending a great gym in Nashua last November and since then I go 4 - 5 times a week. I took the summer off and am ready to get back in shape and the routine of starting my day with a workout. The people there are fun and supportive, which helps keep me going, but honestly it is the fact that I am actually able to do things I could never do before. Being a life long learner isn't just about keeping your mind fresh on today's best educational practices! But Thursday meditation at the gym helps with that too.
Dark Chocolate! I love to keep a little bit of dark chocolate in my desk drawer or in my fridge (or freezer) at home. It only takes 1 square to melt away the worry, stress, etc. It is a peaceful little moment wrapped in a foil package!
PLAY DOUGH, Shave Cream, fresh sand, floam, all things sensory

IF YOU WEREN'T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I honestly believe I am in my dream job, but of course I dream of other careers only to find the flaws in them.
When I was in high school, I thought about being a radio DJ, and still think that this would be a great career choice. However, I do have a small fear of public speaking, and the few times I have called into the radio stations to share my opinions on a topic, I have a sick stomach feeling when I am done.
When ever I go on a tropical vacation, I leave thinking how great it would be to have a job as a server on a beach or entertainment coordinator on a cruise ship. I do love my family and this would take me far from my parents and sisters, so maybe in my retired years (?)
Owning a bed and breakfast has also appealed to me, I love to cook and bake, and would love to live in a scenic home overlooking the water somewhere in Maine, but... I'm not a huge fan of cleaning and I REALLY love to sleep in! Pretty sure my house guests would expect more than a cold bowl of cereal and wouldn't be pleased when I shhh'd them during coffee time!
